Daily hospital reports, 1922-1939.

Daily Hospital Reports were compiled for the State Physician Inspector by the Resident Physician of every prison and road camp where state and county inmates were confined (Rules and Regulations of the State Board of Administration and for the Government of the Convicts of Alabama, Montgomery: 1923; 10). The report lists the name, race, sex, and serial number of each inmate who was admitted or discharged from the hospital or received treatment in his cell. Hospital Reports for prisons were compiled daily and often include the letter "I" or "S" by the inmate's name to indicate if he was injured or sick. Hospital Reports for road camps were compiled on a weekly basis and often include a menu of the meals served during the week reported. These reports do not indicate the nature of the inmate's illness nor the type of treatment that may have been provided to him.
